THE OG LADY
The Path
"The OG Lady" is the result of an unexpectedly natural evolution derived from familial needs. We heard the signs, but just weren't informed enough to know that there were learning disabilities, nor did we know that our public school wasn’t equipped to retrain our children. And for those who are out there wondering, at that time, we lived in the South and in the best school district in the state.

One great advantage of living in North Carolina is the enormous homeschooling
community. Well-organized, with lots of resources, and families that, for personal
reasons of their choosing, decide to homeschool. It was during homeschooling that I became deeply involved in learning and the process. I was able to see reading and retention challenges with my own children. After having them tested, we learned that the challenges were a result of Dyslexia and Dyscalculia.

In 2017, while still homeschooling, I decided that I was going to be the one to ensure that each of my children had a clear path to getting into the college of their choosing. I did the research and decided to join the Orton-Gillingham Academy and work through each of the certifications to make sure that my children received one-on-one customized sessions designed to close the gaps.

After some aggressive and still ongoing work, my children are back in public school. And while the school is not equipped to make the type of advancements on my children's learning disabilities that we'd like, I sure am. One is now in college, and the remaining two will, without a doubt, be attending a 4-year college of their choosing (assuming they're accepted) upon graduating from high school.

Today, I am an OG Associate, which means that I can work with students who have reading challenges. For the last 4 years, I've been working with children from K-12 in a one-on-one environment. That work has included in-library, in-school, and even online. I serve Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stamford, and Westport.
